Student Orientation and Parent Night
There were student orientation days and parent nights in August for S.1, S.4 and S.6. Besides having words from Dr. To, students learned about the school from Mr. Cheng (academic affairs), Mr. Chun (discipline and guidance), Mr. Lau (co-curricular activities) and Mrs. Lau (library). ELT Rap @ English Festival 2007
A few students from UCCKE's Hip Hop Group performed in the ELT Rap as part of the English Festival 2007 Organized by the British Council and CUHK. Thirty schools were selected to participate in the performance. Many thanks to Mrs. Venus Lau and Miss Emma Tam for facilitating the students with training for the preformance on 5 May 2007. The four students who represented our school were: Karvina To, Eliza Cheung Ki On, Chui Hiu Yeung of 2C and Rebecca Li of 6B. Their next performance with about 6 other UCCKE rappers will be held on 19 May 2007 (Saturday). Again, there will be 30 schools performing, each for 3 minutes. Feel free to join their performance in Tseung Kwan O if you can afford the time.

Science Curriculum Visit from EMB
Head of the Curriculum Development Institute Dr. K. K. Chan, Head of Science Section Mr. Y. T. Lau and Head of Biology Ms O. L. Chung have visited our school. They came to discuss with our science teachers to collect opinions in science curriculum. They have a very positive feedback to our students after several lesson observation to science classes.

Natural Disaster - by Prof. Chan Lung Sang
Prof. Chan Lung Sang, vice-dean of the Science Faculty of the Hong Kong University came to our school to deliver a talk on "Natural Disaster". He shared his valuable experience in applying knowledge of Earth Science to tackle problems. Both students from science stream and arts stream found the talk very interesting.

Science Days for Primary Schools
The school has organized 3 science days for 3 primary schools. The first two have been conducted on 14/10 and 21/10 and the last one will be on 28/10. Participating schools are Kowloon Rhenish School, Chan's Creative School and Kau Yan School. Here attached a student's sharing.
這是我第一次參加科學日,起初也十分緊張,不知道小六的學生會怎樣,又擔心自己應付不來。但另一方面,我又很期待與他們愉快相處的時刻。
這一天,最令我深刻的是,我成為了四個小六學生的姐姐,整天都和他們一起。他們年紀雖少,但看著他們第一次進行實驗、討論、勇於發問及回答,也頭頭是道。可見他們是經過細心思考,不是草草了事。另外,可能只是小小的發現,甚至是十分平淡的劃火柴,但在他們臉上,會經常看見像是發現了新大陸一般興奮、快樂!他們對科學探究的那份好奇心、投入,正正是我開始慢慢遺忘的,漸漸失去的。
開心的時光總是過得特別快,雖然短短相處了一天,大家都建立了不少感情,離開一刻也依依不捨!
經過這次科學日,我除了服務了四個小學生外,其實我得著的更多!在他們身上我學習了很多,也提醒了我。我要重拾那份對任何事都好奇的心,經過細心思考、勇敢的發問和回答精神,享受科學探究過程的趣味……

Chemistry field study for S.3
A group of S.3 students went out this afternoon to have field study in Sai Kung. They have visited Sheung Yiu Folk Museum to study a lime kiln and Lions Nature Education Centre to study rocks and minerals. They have to jot down field note and complete a worksheet afterward.
Study is not only confined by the walls of classroom.

World Robot Olympiad
On the 15th October, our Lego robot team joined the Hong Kong tryout for the World Robot Olympiad. Our team consist of 4 students and coach Miss Michelle Wong. This year we joined the open category and the theme is 'Humanoid'. Our team found the inspiration from the movie Quill, and created robots that resemble a pet trainer and dog. We got 1st runner-up in the competition and is going to participate in the international competition for World Robot Olympiad, which takes place in Nanning in November. (by Miss Michelle Wong)

Talk on Sustainable Development
A social worker, Miss Chau, from St. James' Settlement has come to our school and given a talk on the sustainable development. The talk opened up our student's mind in the topic: What is sustainable development? How is it related to our society, community and even our daily life? Students were required to write a reflection passage after the talk.
